Internet Explorer 7
I realize that there has been some bashing of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) and features that it lacks and so forth and what not. I downloaded IE 7 about a week ago and so far I haven't encountered any bugs. Does that mean there aren't any? Of course there are bugs, but they haven't affected me with all my heavy use of the browser.

I really like the tabbed browser windows. This of course is pretty standard with browsers now. I also like the layout of the buttons and such, although it has taken me a bit to get used to since Microsoft moved stuff around a little bit. That is one of the things I've heard people complaining about. Who cares, things change, live with it. Someday browsing will be all voice commands, I'm sure those same people will balk at that when it's first being implemented.

I did download Mozilla FireFox 2 as well, and of course it is a great product. It has some very cool free pluggins that can be added on. And if I had time to play around with those pluggins I might use FireFox a little more. But for just using a browser to browse, IE 7 is great.

Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital ELPH Review
This is my third digital camera in the last 4 ½ years. I started off with a Minolta Dimage 7, which I did not like at all. I sold it on eBay within 30 days of purchasing it. I then purchased a Fuji FinePix S602. This has been a great camera. The picture quality is much better than most cameras I’ve seen. The problem with the S602 is that it is pretty large. After taking it to Mexico, L.A., and Hawaii, I decided it was time to downsize. After all, cameras have come a long way in the last 3 years.

I discovered the Canon PowerShot SD630 at Best Buy, and after reading reviews on various cameras I decided to purchase the SD630. The camera was selling for $399.00 at Best Buy. However, after searching online a little I found the camera on sale at Buydig.com for $349.00. Note: At the date of this review the PowerShot SD630 is selling for $304.00 on BuyDig.com.

The PowerShot SD630 by Canon may be very compact and quite stylish, but it also packs in some very cool features. My favorite feature is the 3 inch LCD viewing screen. It’s amazing how important this becomes in determining if the picture you just shot is worth saving or if you need to take the picture again. Not only that, but the 3 inch screen makes it very convenient to flip through the pictures that are stored on the camera and actually enjoy looking at them.

Canon PowerShot SD630Another cool feature is the Color Accent setting. This allows you to select a color to capture while all the other colors are turned to monochrome. It isn’t extremely accurate because it’s actually selecting a color range, but with the right contrast of color, a user could produce a pretty neat photo.

The menu system has large icons with text descriptions and is quite easy to use. I am very pleased with how easy it is to change settings and just simply point and shoot for pictures.

Picture quality is great. For any normal user of the camera, the picture quality is going to be quite satisfying. When I print pictures on my Canon Pixma iP6000D photo printer, they look like professional quality prints.

I highly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a compact, easy to use, quality camera. If you’re someone who doesn’t have a clue what to get but you want a digital camera, go down to your local Best Buy or electronics store and play around with the PowerShot SD630. Once you’ve decided you like the way if feels, go online and get one, you won’t be disappointed.

You can read an in depth review at Steves Digicams.

Washburn D36SDL Tahoe review
Because I get quite a few site visits as a result of posting pictures of my Washburn D36SDL Tahoe, I wanted to just say a few words about this instrument. It’s important to note that I am a complete novice on the guitar. I have never had lessons and I spend very little time playing especially in the last 4 months. However, I have picked up quite a few guitars and looked at maybe hundreds.

90.jpgThis guitar is really quite beautiful and it sounds great. I have it on display in our formal dinning room and every time I walk by it I want to play it simply because it looks so good.

Back when I first discovered this guitar, I found a link on Washburn’s web site that listed the retail at $999.00. I did some searching for a while and found it on Amazon for $675.00. Wow what a deal. I wasn’t satisfied with that price though so I kept looking. A few days later a guy listed 6 of them on eBay. He had bought them from somewhere and they were all brand new in original packaging. I got outbid on the auction I bid on and he contacted me directly and offered one to me for $389.00. I bought it and never looked back. It was a great deal.
